WHICH MARTIAL ART SHOULD I STUDY?

Here’s a good question…Which martial art should you learn? It depends on your goals but, our opinion is that if you’re only going to learn one martial art to defend yourself in a real situation, then you need to spend time learning Brazilian Jiu Jitsu.

Why? Because it’s the most realistic training for a real fight situation. There’s many great martial arts, but if you’re going to spend your time learning one martial art for the most practical situation on the streets, then BJJ has proven itself valid time and time and time again.

It seems that the majority of street fights end up in a sloppy clinch position or they end up going to the ground. BJJ is a great way to control a fight and then exit the altercation safely because it is built around the ground and clinch situations. Another good thing about BJJ is that you don’t have to necessarily hurt an attacker in order to defend yourself and to control him. Many martial arts are built around punching, kicking or breaking the offender physically. However, in Brazilian Jiu Jitsu, it is very easy to get on the attackers back and choke him without hurting him. This is a great way to avoid excessive violence which could later get you sued, even if you’re just defending yourself. BJJ has been proven for many years in military training, street altercations and cage fights is that BJJ is one of the most effective martial arts in the world.

“IT SEEMS THAT THE MAJORITY OF STREET FIGHTS ENDS UP IN A SLOPPY CLINCH POSITION OR IT GOES TO THE GROUND. ”

How do I pick a martial art? Again, it all depends on your goals. Is it your main goal to learn how to fight in a serious attack situation? Or is it more so to learn self defense but to also get a good workout and meet good friends? One reason the UFC organization is so valuable is because you watch the different martial arts in action and you can put them up to real scrutiny when you watch the different styles in the cage. The last thing you want is to waste your precious time and money learning ineffective ways to protect yourself. See our other post on Impostor Instructors.

We think there are many wonderful legitimate martial arts. We clearly prefer Brazilian Jiu Jitsu for its real world practicality. However you can never go wrong by learning any of these martial arts below: – Brazilian Jiu Jitsu – Boxing – Wrestling – Muay Thai – Krav Maga

Our opinion is that everyone should learn at least 1 year of martial arts. It’s healthy for your body and mind. And it could save your life.
